CAT Seedsaving

Preserving our vegetable diversity

Having a wide variety of vegetable varieties to choose from allows us to select appropriatly for our local conditions. At CAT we help to preserve rare vegetables by saving their seed from one year to the next and donating any extra to the Heritage Seed Library which works to prevent vegetable variety extinction. We have acted as “seed guardian” for the Crimson Flowered Broad Bean and the Walton Mammoth Leek and in 2009 we will be growing some of the few remaining seed of the Llanover Pea to try to bring this variety back from the brink.
