Centre For Alternative Technology

ESDGC Training days for teachers

The Education Department at CAT is running training days for teachers to help them deliver the new curriculum with a particular focus on how each subject can be related to ESDGC.

All the courses will take place at the Centre for Alternative Technology from 10.00 – 3.00, and will include lunch, refreshments, and an introduction to CAT.

Cost = £70

We can also arrange CPD training days for all of the teachers in your school – either you can come to us or we can come to you. Contact the education department for more details.

These courses will be targeted at KS3 and 4 teaching (with one training day for primary teachers and one for Foundation Stage practitioners) but some of the learning will give teachers the background information necessary to teach at a higher or lower level.

Aims

  • Participants will be inspired and empowered to bring ESDGC into their classrooms, through knowledge, understanding and practical activities.
  • They will have a sound understanding of the Common Understanding for ESDGC and how it relates to the new curriculum for Wales.
  • They will understand important, current issues of Climate Change and Eco Footprinting.
  • They will begin to learn how to integrate ESDGC as a whole school management approach.
  • They will have specific information, ideas and activities for teaching ESDGC related to their own subject.
