 Celebrate Energy Efficiency Week with energy saving gifts from the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT)’s 2006 winter mail order catalogue.
A new report from the Energy Saving Trust (EST) revealed the UK to be a nation of "standby junkies", with 71 per cent rarely if ever switching off their electrical appliances. Why not inspire your energy wasting loved ones with CAT’s new energy saving gadgets? The TV Power Saver reduces the ’standby’ wasted energy from a TV by 70-98%.
Five thousand interviewees in the EST study each admitted to 32 energy-wasting actions a week. If only they had the Powermeter to assess the electricity consumption of their appliances or the Domestic Power Saving Unit which can reduce the household energy consumption by 10-20%.
And the new catalogue isn’t just for eco geeks. Kids will love the bags made entirely of recycled juice and sauce packs; fashionistas will adore the earrings crafted from plastic shopping bags and gardeners will cherish the Beneficial Insect Habitat and the Bird Seed Bar made from FSC certified cedar.
