The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is continuing its appeal for used stamps following the tremendous success of its Christmas collection. The prominent eco-centre, based outside Machynlleth in mid-Wales, uses the money raised from the stamps to help fund CAT's environmental work, including its educational facilities and its free information service.
CAT extends a big thank-you to all who have already sent in stamps helping to raise much-needed funds for CAT's ongoing charitable activities.
The original appeal for used stamps, launched in December last year, brought in an extensive and eclectic assortment of stamps old and new. Any stamps that CAT receives are sorted and then sold to dealers or collectors.
CAT are very happy to receive any quantity of stamps, large or small. Even the stamp you use to post your stamps is removed from its envelope and recycled to raise money.
Both British and foreign stamps are welcome. Stamps should be left on their backing paper with roughly 1cm of border around the stamp. Stamps should not be removed from the paper as this can cause damage and make the stamp worthless. It would be very helpful if stamps are sorted into the following categories: 'First class and above', 'Second class and below', 'Foreign and commemorative'.
Please send your stamps to: Jo Withers, Fundraising and Development Department, The Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth, Powys. SY20 9AZ.
