Food and Drink
If you are feeling peckish while visiting CAT, go ahead! Treat yourself to a tasty meal in our Taste of Wales accredited wholefood restaurant.
The restaurant sources local, organic and Fair Trade produce to offer appetising vegetarian dishes, light snacks and delicious home-made cakes. Here you can regularly savour fresh salad grown in CAT's own smallholding. There are also a selection of organic wines, beers and soft drinks for you to enjoy.
Restaurant Opening Hours
The restaurant is open every day in the summer holidays from 10am to 5pm serving hot food from 12pm-3pm and drinks and snacks all day. From September to the end of October we open till 4.30pm and in winter we close at dusk.
There are picnic tables around the site where you can enjoy food made at the Centre or your own packed lunch.
Snacks and drinks are also available in the shop and, at peak times, from the refreshment kiosk close to the cliff-railway.
Britain's Greenest Shop
CAT's environmentally designed gift and bookshop is a truly unique shopping experience. It is packed with ethically and environmentally sound products which, inspired by a visit to the Centre, can help you live in a more sustainable way. These include environmentally friendly products for your home and garden, toiletries, gifts, cards and souvenirs to remind you of your visit to CAT. There are also a range of kits and toys that make use of the power of wind, water and sun. The shop stocks all CAT books and publications and contains many other titles on a wide range of subjects.
The shop itself is housed within a state-of-the-art rammed-earth building, designed to use locally sourced materials and have a low impact on the surrounding environment.
In Town
If you're spending time in Machynlleth before or after your visit to the CAT Visitor Centre why not call in at CAT's Quarry Cafe and Quarry Shop in the centre of town? The Quarry Cafe is Machynlleth's only vegetarian Fair Trade cafe and offers a range of lip-smacking home made meals. The Quarry Shop is a unique wholefood store and through its products promotes a naturally healthy lifestyle. Both are well worth a visit.
