The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) will today host a visit from Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Wales Office, Lord Nick Bourne to discuss UK action on climate change.
During the visit Lord Bourne will meet with CAT Chief Executive Adrian Ramsay and Zero Carbon Britain Project Coordinator Paul Allen, who will provide an overview of CAT’s environmental education and research work and stress the urgent need for stronger action on climate change at all levels of government.
CAT Chief Executive Adrian Ramsay said:
“It’s clear from the science that humanity needs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by mid century; CAT’s Zero Carbon Britain research has shown that this is possible using technology available today. There are no technological barriers to tackling climate change – what is needed is the political will.
“We welcome this opportunity to give Lord Bourne an overview of our work, and to highlight the need for greater ambition on climate change. The visit will be a useful opportunity to press for stronger environmental legislation and for a clearer roadmap outlining how the UK Government plans to fulfil its commitments under the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.”
