In this weeks’ podcast, Ian Taylor discusses sustainable transport with Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies students. Ian explains how transport is seen as a difficult issue, as emissions from the sector rose steadily until the banking crisis; as economic stability returns, emissions are again expected to increase. However, it’s not simply a question of emissions: in the last 40 years, many Western nations have become car dependent. How does this affect our urban planning, our health, our safety, our social cohesion? And how can we encourage transport behaviour change?
