Do you ever wonder what happens to CAT staff when they leave? Julie Bromilow was a CAT education officer for five years before leaving last summer to become a writer. It’s been an exciting year – when not walking 1027 miles around the edge of Wales, she has written for BBC Countryfile, Bradt Travel, The Shropshire Star, and won the Resurgence and Ecologist nature writing prize.

She has just been shortlisted for a dream job walking and writing for Penguin Books, but needs enough people to vote for her to get through to the next round! So if you’d like to see a Penguin Wayfarer with sustainability in her soul, go to and vote for Julie’s 2 minute video ‘There’s an Earthquake in My Boots’ before midnight on Monday 24th June.
