Limited tickets are available for each tour or time slot so please book well in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you are entitled to free entry to CAT, please book your timed slot in advance by emailing visit@cat.org.uk – as numbers are limited, please use the calendar below to check that your preferred date and time is available before emailing. Please bring your membership card, pass or proof of address with you when you visit.

CAT Tours

Join our new tour and explore the true story of CAT’s transformation and get a behind the scenes look at the UK’s leading eco-centre.

Discover how an abandoned slate quarry was transformed into a variety of lush habitats and explore CAT’s core themes including green building, organic gardening, renewable energy and more.

You will start by weaving up through sustainably-managed woodland to unlock glorious views of the surrounding hills, including glimpses into CAT’s slate heritage, as well as visit the reservoir at the very top and learn about CAT’s fully off-grid water systems. Then on to the main area of CAT, to discover buildings made with rammed earth and straw bales, explore organic gardens full of ideas to take home, and learn more about the various renewable energy installations that are dotted around CAT.

End the tour with a walk down to see the productive allotment field that we share with a local project that’s helping to get more people into vegetable growing.
